During my latest trip to Spain, I had the immense pleasure to discover a magnificent 5 star hotel inside the well-known PGA Catalunya Resort: The Hotel Camiral. Located 20 minutes by car from Girona city center (and around 1 hour away from Barcelona), it has a fantastic golf course that has been ranked N.1 for six consecutive years in Spain! I can totally understand why… it is truly sublime!
PGA CATALUNYA RESORT
The PGA Catalunya Resort is the culmination of more than 20 years’ work that continues to deliver on – and goes beyond – the vision of its founders. It incorporates two established championship-standard golf courses located near the picturesque town of Girona, Spain. The resort is owned by Irish entrepreneur Denis O’Brien – who also owns Quinta do Lago in Portugal.

THE GOLF HUB
The Golf Hub at PGA Catalunya Resort brings you the most advanced swing analysis technology combined with the ball-tracking system used on the Tour, allowing you to make your practice 100% accurate, 100% effective and 100% fun! Boasting one of the largest practice facilities in Europe, The Golf Hub also includes a large natural grass practice tee, including a private teeing area for members, and a 2,000 sqm putting green and chipping area, with five bunkers each containing different sand types (Augusta, St Andrews, Hawaii volcanic, PGA Catalunya Stadium Course sand bunker and Pebble Beach).
It is of course a paradise for pro-golfers, who can practice here and also come for the annual tournaments. HOTEL CAMIRAL
As soon as I reached the Hotel Camiral, I got extremely impressed by the interiors. Everything was brand new, and beautifully designed. The attention to details was incredible and the artworks inside got my attention as well! This is a delightful 5 star hotel inside the PGA Catalunya Resort, a true gem for stylish travelers!
The very high ceilings, together with the massive windows, really create a fantastic atmosphere as soon as every guest steps into the lobby. The brightness and the beautiful nature outside, combined with the elegant and contemporary interiors, are spectacular!
I adored the library room, with its big bookshelves that are truly magnificent!
Every single spot at the Hotel Camiral is so relaxing and beautiful, with lovely music in the background all day long.
I took so many pictures of the contemporary artworks exhibited, and I loved them so much! Also, the smart touch of the interior designers, as every corner is so particular!
The charming-geometrical stairs really kept my attention all the time I was walking to my suite!
THE LUXURY SUITES
I was so happy when I got into my suite at the Hotel Camiral: located on the 3rd floor, with a wonderful view and balcony!
As mentioned, all the interiors are brand new also in the luxurious rooms/suites. The bed was extra-comfortable and the artworks on the wall very pleasant!
In the bathroom there are a bathtub as well as a wide shower, with great body products and all amenities you might need.
THE 1477 RESTAURANT
During my stay, I had also the big pleasure to have dinner at the 1477 Restaurant, where it is possible to dine even if you do not stay at the hotel:
A more refined dining experience but not over formal either. We showcase the very best from local artisan food producers, offering European Cuisine with a distinctly Catalan twist.
Every dish has been beautifully presented, and everything was extremely fresh and truly delicious!
I ordered only sea-food, both raw and cooked: everything was on point!
It’s been a remarkable dinner, so I would surely recommend to eat at th 1477 restaurant even if you are not staying at the hotel. A worth stop! 🙂
THE SPA
Another pleasant highlight of my stay has surely been the Spa experience. There is a wellness area where you can enjoy the warm jacuzzi, the sauna and the steam-bath and most importantly you can book it for yourself only so you can enjoy them without other guests (I loved it!).
As well as in the rest of the hotel, the Spa center is beautifully designed and decorated, a very pleasant atmosphere indeed!
THE “GOLF BALLS-MASSAGE”
For the first time EVER I tried their signature massage with golf balls! Despite I have massages quiet often and I have been to many spas around the world, I never ever even heard of it! And it has been incredibly good! The therapist was amazing, very professional, gentle and kind. Truly a remarkable experience, 100% recommended while here!
THE LOUNGE BAR
Together with the 1477 restaurant, at the Hotel Camiral there is also a great Lounge Bar where you can have lunch and drinks. I had a wonderful lunch there, on a beautiful sunny day: so pleasant!
Everything we order was so delicious, fresh, tasty and well presented. I have been drinking Champagne, and also ordered a very yummy ice-cream!
THE LUXURY VILLAS – ALSO FOR RENT
Inside the PGA Catalunya Resort, together with the massive golf court and the Hotel Camiral, there are also many extra-luxurious villas, both for sale and for rent. The real estate projects play indeed a very important role for the PGA Catalunya Resort. I had the big pleasure to have a private tour with the staff, that kindly showed me around. During the tour, I saw one of the luxurious-villas and I was very impressed. These homes are simply a dream, with magnificent interiors, surrounded by overwhelming nature. The great news is that most of them, even if already sold, are available for rent directly from the owners. Definitely holidays-home goals here!
Last but not least, you have also the possibility to rent apartments inside the PGA Catalunya Resort, in case you are not looking for an entire villa.
I would hugely recommend to visit this place even if (like myself!) you are not a golf player/ pro-golfer!
This place is so enjoyable, beautiful and peaceful!
