This year I visited Copenhagen for the first time and I enjoyed it quiet a lot. One of the things that impressed me the most is the fantastic local fine dining scene. I am so glad to share with you my experience at Marv&Ben Restaurant, a sublime hidden gem I had the pleasure to discover!
Marv&Ben is a particular restaurant located in the heart of the Danish capital, an unmissable spot for food connoisseurs. To be very honest with you, this dining experience has been one of the most remarkable I have ever had. It is not (yet!) a Michelin starred restaurant, but surely a top quality restaurant. It is managed by young guys with 10 chefs, who are very passionate and knowledgeable about what they serve to the clients. A must while in Copenhagen!
NORDIC FINE DINING EXPERIENCE IN COPENHAGEN
As soon as I got to Marv&Ben Restaurant, I was already pleased by the kindness and the polite manners of the owner and the waiters, which is something that is always so precious to me. The atmosphere is quiet particular too, because it is simple, not pretentious, which has thought sophisticated vibes. I had indeed the feeling I was about to have a great dining experience!
“ALMOST EVERYTHING” MENU WITH PAIRED WINES
The owner kindly chose to let me try the best menu of the restaurant, called “Almost Everything” with great wines paired to each dish. This formula includes: 3 starters, 6 courses, 1 dessert. The name of this menu is due to the fact that you will get to taste fish, meat, cheese, wonderfully cooked and beautifully presented.
A delightful mix of herbs, spices, colors, which provide an incredible taste each bite. The other great characteristic of this restaurant is that the Chefs use ONLY local bio-products, most of whom are made by them (olive oil included!).
THE 3 STARTERS
As mentioned, my exquisite dinner begun with particular 3 starters.
Champagne paired: A.D. Coutelas, Brut
THE 6 MAIN COURSES
The sublime food journey kept on going with the 6 main courses: an otherworldly mix of 3 fish based-dishes and 3 meat-based dishes!
First dish paired with white wine: Hirschvergnügen, Grüner Veltliner, 2016
Second dish paired with white wine: Gómez Ruzado, Haro-Rioja, Cosecha 2016
Third dish paired with white wine: Muscadet Sèvre & Maine Tiré Sur Lie, Pierre Luneau-Papin
Fourth dish paired with red wine: Oestermann Family Wines, Cabernet Sauvignon, 2017
Fifth dish paired with red wine: Battenfeld Spanier, 2015
Sixth dish paired with red wine: Seehof, Westhofen Auslese, 2017
THE DESSERT
And the dinner ended with a delicate dessert. I haven’t had sweet wine with it, but instead they made me an infusion with fresh herbs. Delightful!
If you are looking for an unforgettable dining experience, Marv&Ben Restaurant is seriously a must while in Copenhagen! Be sure not to miss it, it is really sublime!
And you… are you lusting for the sublime?
Always,
Carlotta
Thank you for the great review! If you don’t mind my asking, how long was the dining experience?
