Generally speaking, when I travel I love finding beautiful luxurious hidden gems. This summer I spent 2 weeks discovering the Provence region in France, and I can guarantee you it is even more astonishing than what we all see in pictures. My last stop during this trip has been Le Mas de la Rose, a truly superb property, near Orgon town. One of the best discoveries ever, as it is not mainstream but so incredibly delightful and luxurious, with a fantastic pool, its own lavender field and a fine dining restaurant. Let’s go through my entire experience step-by-step! 🙂
THE PROPERTY
This lovely 17th century Provençal farmhouse was bought by a French family almost 15 years ago, and it became a wonderful hotel and a renown wedding venue in the area (no wonder why… it is sublime!). The entire property is actually called “Le Domaine de la Rose“: “La Mas de la Rose” is the accommodation part and “Le Potager du Mas” is the fine dining restaurant.
It is family managed, with a small staff of polite and helpful people always ready to please the guests’ requests.
As soon as I got there I was totally overwhelmed by the beauty of this place, as well as by the peace and serenity I felt! It is not a secret by now that I love swimming pools and the one at Le Mas de la Rose is seriously stunning! It seems to be at the Maldives, but in the heart of Provence with a colorful lavender field in front of you… A dream!
Every single corner of this property is extremely well maintained, the green grass is PERFECT, everything is clean and tidy. You can find several private spaces under the shade of the trees to relax. You never get bothered by the presence of other people. Calm and serenity are unbeatable here!
I had a short walk around the lavender field of the property, so beautiful. Such a unique location for a wedding, so many hot spots for pictures! There are also many olive trees, which make the view even more gorgeous.
When it gets too hot, you can spend some time under the shade of the trees or sitting under the pool-umbrella.
When I said the the grass is PERFECT… I actually meant it. Look at this picture! I love it! 🙂 I would say: strikingly perfect!
I loved the outdoor patio with a veranda with a big table, available upon request for dining, banquets and events!
The owners kept several details of the original farmhouse to preserve the Provençal countryside tradition, despite the interiors are very fancy. I think it is a wonderful combination.
THE PROPERTY AT NIGHT
I had to add a special section to this article about the pictures I took at night. During the day is undoubtedly gorgeous but at night it is so romantic like no comparison!
Chilling and walking around the property at night was so magical!
THE TENNIS COURT
If you would like to do some activities, inside the property there is a tennis court (free of charge) as well as bikes for riding around the area.
THE LUXURY SUITES
There are several types of rooms at Le Mas de la Rose, and I had the pleasure to stay in the big Luxury Suite for a few days. This wonderful room is actually a “mini-apartment” as it has 2 living rooms, the bedroom, the changing room and a big bathroom.
The bathroom is very spacious, with a bath and a shower. They provide towels and robes, together with soaps and body cream. I loved seeing the ivy through the small window!
In the larger living room there is a flat TV, and a comfortable sofa to relax.
As soon as you get inside the Luxury Suite there is this small chilling area that I really liked to work on my computer!
THE BREAKFAST
In the morning I had a lovely breakfast at La Mas de la Rose, the same building where the rooms are. They offer a wide range of fresh food, fruits, brad, jams and eggs. The breakfast is not always included in the reservation booking, so make sure you have it. Otherwise is 25 euros per person, really worth it!
I could not resist to have some fresh French “baguette” with local jams! Too good, and so French 🙂
Everything was extremely fresh and the quality of the products served very high. There is also a Nespresso machine for coffee. Fresh salmon and ham too!
The interiors design is rustic but delicate, keeping the Provençal traditional style with elegance.
You can choose to have breakfast outdoor too, surrounded by plants and flowers!
THE CHEF’S GARDEN
As mentioned in my previous articles about Provence, in this region the best restaurants have “The Chef’s Garden”. The freshness of the herbs, vegetables and fruits is so crucial for the local recipes. Having the chance to have a big garden next to the restaurant provide a big plus to the dining experience (guaranteed!).
It is also a great experience to walk around the garden and see how vegetables, herbs and fruits grow, especially for people who are not familiar with that.
THE RESTAURANT “LE POTAGER DU MAS”
With such a great garden, can you imagine how good the food is at the gastronomic restaurant inside the property? Le Potager du Mas is indeed a well known fine dining restaurant in the area. In fact you can go without being necessarily a guest of the hotel. Check always the opening hours on the website, for lunch and dinner 😉
FINE DINING EXPERIENCE FOR DINNER
In summer it is so lovely having dinner at Le Potager du Mas, surrounded by trees and the cicadas’ song! Also, during summertime in southern Europe the days are very long and the sun sets very late, so you can enjoy all the colors of the sky while having your dinner.
My dining experience has been exquisite. Every dish was a perfect combination of flavors! And everything was made with locals products, fresh, and meticulously selected in order to provide to the clientele the best fine dining experience possible.
Scroll down to see everything my friend and I tried that night! Sublime, 100% guaranteed!
I can’t stop telling you how much I loved this property, the restaurant, the details, the elegance. Hugely recommended!
And you… Are you lusting for the sublime?
Always,
Carlotta
