Undoubtedly, 2020 is a very challenging year for travelers, a year during which most of the people got the opportunity to explore the beauty close to them – rather than flying somewhere remote and exotic. I feel lucky to have had the chance to spend the entire summer in Italy (my native country!) during which I dedicated my time to discover marvelous places I have never visited before. What a blessing! 🙂
After a beautiful week in Sardinia, I planned a “17-days-road-trip” around Italy – literally from the North to the South! The first region I decided to explore has been Umbria (region that I never visited before and that really impressed me in every possible way!).
BORGO CASTELLO PANICAGLIA
As soon as I arrived in Umbria region, I got astonished by the marvelous landscapes and the peaceful surroundings. The first place I had the immense pleasure to discover has been Borgo Castello Panicaglia, where I spent a few delightful days! The property is located 30 minutes by car from Assisi town, and 50 minutes away by car from Perugia.
This castle from 1266 is owned by a lovely Dutch family, who has been able to renovate this place maintaining its spirit and combining it with a pleasant modern touch. I really love and appreciate their ability to let all guests feel the “warm Italian hospitality”. During my stay, the clientele was very international and there were several families. This place it is indeed very family friendly!
LUXURY “SANTE” SUITE
During my visit, I had the big pleasure to stay in the luxurious “Sante Suite” . This very wide room has also a private big patio and a private garden in front of it. Its beautiful design and stylish touch are really enchanting. I loved the warm welcome at the reception as well as in the room, every detail was perfectly thought. The fresh flowers all over the room were really a sublime touch!
The woody interiors are perfectly combined with a few modern design pieces, creating a very pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. I got to rest so well in that bed! 🙂
This suite is like a dépendace of the main building, therefore its guests have even more privacy.
I got really fascinated by the view of the main building from the patio at night, so magical:
THE RESTAURANT & FOOD EXPERIENCES
One of the biggest highlights of Borgo Castello Panicaglia is surely the food experience. In fact, they have the “Orto” – which is the typical Italian garden with fresh vegetables, fruits, and herbs – from where they get all the fresh products to serve for lunch and dinner.
Also in the dining area, the owners have been able to beautifully combine the traditional style with some modern furniture:
All the other products served are meticulously selected by the owners, in order to guarantee the best food experience during each meal.
Most of the time, the dishes are simple but beautifully presented and truly delicious!
THE “ORTO” – Vegetables Garden
In the morning, I went for a walk around the castle and I adored the vegetables garden and how graceful it was! Nowadays, it is definitely a huge plus having a vegetables garden inside the property!
I have been truly fascinated by this wonderful gem in the Umbria region! Definitely highly recommended, especially for families. I hope to visit it again soon!
And you… Are you lusting for the sublime?
