After 10 years, I finally had the chance to visit Madrid again lately and I adored my trip! As soon as I arrived in town, I stayed in a beautiful 5 star hotel, which is the first luxury one built in the city in 1886 and fully refurbished in 2018: The Gran Hotel Inglés. This marvelous hotel is located in Barrio de las Letras, in the heart of the Spanish capital and it has wonderful and brand new interiors, a fabulous spa and a lovely contemporary tapas restaurant. The service has been impeccable, attentive and extremely professional, truly loved my stay!
THE HOTEL
As mentioned, Gran Hotel Inglés has been fully renovated in 2018, maintaining the classic style and combining it with wonderful modern design.
Every inch and every last corner of our luxury hotel suites in Madrid have been carefully designed. They are unique spaces that ingeniously combine the sophistication of place of a hotel in Madrid’s city center with the nostalgia for the luxuries of yesteryear.
As soon as you get in, the beautiful LobByto Bar will take your breath away, together with the bookshelves and the elegant style of the lobby.
I adored having coffee and tea in the library corner, with a lovely fireplace, surrounded by bookshelves and particular decorations.
I literally took some time to observe all the objects in the room, so fascinating!
THE LUXURY SUITES
During my time at the Gran Hotel Inglés, I had the big pleasure to stay in one of the splendid luxurious suites. It was very spacious, divided into 2 main areas: the living room and the bedroom.
I definitely also hugely appreciated the warm welcome as soon as I got into my luxury suite!
My main highlight of my suite (of course among several!) has surely been the fantastic bathtub in the corner of my bedroom! How stylish!!! 🙂
The bedroom was very modern, cozy and extremely tidy. I had such a great sleep there!
Also the bathroom showed the stylish touch of the architects. Every detail was just a pure pleasure for my eyes!
All body products offered are L’Occitane branded, very good indeed.
And of course my favorite corner, the coffee one, which has espresso machine and all you might need as refreshments – simply great! The suite has also 2 TVs, one in the bedroom and one in the living room area.
So many beautiful decorations inside my suite, including a lovely guitar in the corner – such a cool touch!
IN-ROOM BREAKFAST
In the morning, I order my breakfast in my suite. I got served very traditional Spanish dishes, fresh fruits and fresh made croissants, with juices, coffee and tea.
THE ÉGOÏSTE SPA
You know by now how much I love going to the spa, and I have to admit that the Égoïste Spa inside the Gran Hotel Inglés has truly been a great discovery! It offers fabulous signature massages, the staff is highly professional and there is also a private jacuzzi area where you can relax after the treatments or just spending some time by yourself.
CANDLE OIL MASSAGE
During my experience, I had – for the first time ever! – a “candle oil massage”, which is their signature treatment. You cannot believe how good I felt after it! The therapist has also been extremely good, for real!
After the phenomenal “candle oil massage”, I took some time to relax inside the jacuzzi by myself!

LOBO 8 RESTAURANT
Last but not least, during my stay I had a superb Spanish dinner at LOBO 8 Restaurant! It serves contemporary and sophisticated tapas, in a stylish and modern ambient. I truly loved the interior design as well as the deliciousness of each dish! On a side note: “lobo” in Spanish means “wolf” 🙂
I really liked the combination of classic and modern style there, as you can see from the pictures.
During the dinner I have been drinking Laurent Perrier Brut Champagne.
Normally tapas are very simple dishes to share, but at LOBO 8 Restaurant they are served in a very stylish way and everything I tried tasted absolutely great!
After the tapas, I ordered a selection of Spanish cheeses and they were so yummy!
Of course we ordered also a selection of the desserts and they looked beautiful (and they were delicious too!).
I would recommend this restaurant also if you are not stay at the hotel.
Overall, I had such a great experience and I would surely recommend this hotel for a special stay in Madrid!
And you… Are you lusting for the sublime?
Always,
Carlotta
That looks fantastic – thank you for the recommendation! Looks like you have been really busy in the Hotel – how many days did you spend there? (Seriously curious)
